Description A reconstruction of the skull of the Camebridge specimen, which is a putative female.

Why do I draw aurochs all the time? First of all, it is exciting and refreshing because it is the opposite of what I did before: a large quantity of sauropsidian species, never the same species twice. And now, a small quantity of almost recent mammal species. Reconstructing as many individuals as possible gives me the opportunity to appreciate the variability within an extinct species. Secondly, I came to the aurochs in a kind of niche-partitioning. There are so many extremely good paleoartists focusing on dinosaurs and other extinct amniotes that I can hardly compete with, but there are only very few people who do anatomically correct drawings of the aurochs. This fact made it possible that one of my artworks was published in a book on the aurochs, and a second book with a piece of my art is upcoming as well.

Yes, a french geneticist asked me to use the drawing of the Lund bull and Camebridge to same scale for a book on cattle genetics he is working on.
