Description Mocha, my female American toad, with some orange dyed daisies. I really like how the orange in the flowers brings out the bit of orange she has in her color/pattern.

Hello, great photo! Was just wondering how your toad's "personality" is? I just caught a baby american toad and am temped to keep it. Can they be "tamed" like other herps? I am used to crested and gargoyle geckos, and don't really have much experience with keeping amphibians.

I believe it. Frogs/toads are all sweet...except some Pacman frogs.

Yeah horned frog can be a bit tenacious. But that is usually b/c someone teases them. I have a few horned frogs myself and have dealt with the species for over 20yrs. Not a single one I have raised ever turned out "mean". And that's b/c I don't poke them nor mistreat them. You do have to watch it a bit around them b/c they can mistake a finger or hand for a tasty meal and they do have VERY sharp teeth. But I've never been bit out of aggression. It all comes down to respecting them and seeig the world through their eyes. If someone kept poking at me I'd want to bite them too.

They do have very sharp teeth, and I love them. I've seen your pacmans, and they look very happy and healthy. I understand they can get aggressive when threatened, normally frogs just don't act upon threatening acts. They are all sweet though. Especially African Clawed frogs.

I try to find things that whatever critter...snake,toad, or tarantula...I am working with will complement them. And I especially love things that bring out their natural beauty even more. Glad you like it.

I don't normally think of toads as pretty, but that's a nice pattern.

Glad you like her. Toads, even those like the American Toad, that are usually only shades of browns can be very beautiful. It's one reason why I like to get photos like this to show that.
