Description This past month has been incredibly stressful. I have had a rather large attack on my website, which is now down until further notice, and I worked at a job all day on weekdays. The result is that this video is possibly more rushed to completion than any other one I've made. The animation quality is below my personal standards and I feel like I should have edited the music some more, but I will unfortunately be out of town for a little while now, and to be honest I just want to have a break. I'd like to say that I'll come back and fix things up later, but in reality I know I won't. I don't know how this round of NATA will turn out, but I wish everyone the best of luck.
As far as the plot goes, I always sort of wanted to make something where the protagonist finds himself in what is basically the position of a god, and then breaks under the pressure. I also decided to mix in another idea I had which involved having the world contained inside itself, so that there would be an infinite string of identical worlds inside each other where a change in one affects all of the others because they are the same world. IT is from that concept that I tried to tie in this round's theme, "the butterfly effect", and also where I got the title "macrocosm" from. I still feel that there's a lot more I could have done with the concept, especially given the rushed quality of this entry, so maybe I'll revisit the ideas later or something.
I'd just like to give thanks to my friend Laura who helped play some of the music to save me some time, and once again, I need to thank Bing for his awesome music, which you can download at highfivespaceship.bandcamp.com.

This is the point where I channel Ernie Pintoff's masterpiece 'The Critic' - 'Oh, they're schtupping. You can't show that in the movies, canya. The little blobs of light are schtupping.'

(Watched some NFB films with my sister this afternoon, and she's convinced that me and Canada are collectively insane. 'Wait, so the shapes are now a baby? What the hell do you mean 'was the train life?' /

From being on Newgrounds for too long, I think I'm now pretty jaded and cynical about those kinds of animations where you sort of have to piece together the meaning. I think my opinions about it are summed up nicely by this (coincidentally also NFB) animation that makes fun of the pretentious nature of art. [link] I think it's possibly my favourite animation ever because of how funny and truthful it is.

Also as a Canadian I can confirm that we are insane

Well, there's a lot of people who act like John Hubley circa 1948 and think it makes them John Hubley circa 1960s-70s. (When he was making the UPA Fox and Crows, he didn't act like he was introducing ambiguities for amusing contrast, but as if it was beneath his vaulted artist throne to explain what the hell you were looking at. The Magic Fluke - why the hell does the Crow walk across the Fox at the end? There's no way to explain that. It actually ruinsLISZT.)
Chris Landreth is a genius. ^^

Well, you have gay marriage and the best pies in the universe. I'd say I careth not about the insanity...

Even tho it seemed a bit rushed in some parts as stated by yourself, the animation still looks realy smooth and the whole concept is also very awesome. The synching with the music and lighting effects were the icing. Great job!

the flute
I KNEW IT WAS REAL
Laura's so skilled

anyway this is so cool its like science and magical deities all rolled into one
and sci fi, which is awesome k
these ideas are just so amazing

and yeah i was going to bother you about some of the scenes sticking out like a sore thumb that someone stepped on (hyperbole, its not that bad), mainly the digitally rendered ones not fitting in with the hand-drawn ones but okay that doesnt change the fact that this is magnifique et sensass

yeah those were the scenes where I was like "well I have two days left to do this in and this is going to take way too long to do by hand so here we go let's make some cubes and now let's make a blue plane and now let's move the plane so it covers up parts of the cubes and ok done."

I am lazy

Well, I have been doing some more serious stuff recently, but I think this is the first time I've actually dealt with creation, really.

I remember when at first I came across your work I didn't entirely appreciate it for what it was, but I've grown to really enjoy your style and flavor of presentation.. I look forward to each of your new works. Your ideas are always so out of the box and. yeah. Keep up the good work, and good luck with all the setbacks!

i really enjoyed this. i think you did a good job tying in the music with what was happening in the story.
even if its not up to your personal standards, it still reads very well and is enjoyable. thank you for sharing it

First, you'll have to apply to become a member of the dA Film community. There's instructions on how to do that here: [link]

hopefully that helps!

That's your rushed work? Man, you will really be something in the world of animation.

I always get myself thinking when it comes to these theories about self-containing or the algorythm-world. Nice ambiance, even though you couldn't animate as you wish.

You did a great job on this, especially for being so rushed. But if you make another movie on this theme, I'm sure it'll be even more awesome.
