Description I am not quite certain about this shot .... I would therefore like to know what you think about it.

These are a series of supports for a handrail which run along a flight of stairs that used to lead to a bridge connecting the breakwater to the mainland at the mouth of Grand Harbour. The bridge had been hit by an Italian torpedo during World War II. Currently there are plans to build a similar bridge in its place.

This is the same location as Standing Strong and Standing Strong 2

great work with the focusing, i would have tilted the a angle slightly to view the holders slightly from the side. but otherwise, prosit.

Good idea, but I dont really think it would have given the same result

it is a nice to look at with only one support focusedand which is in the middle of the photo. it just cannot be seen properly with the watermark :/

I know that the watermark is a nuisance but it is necessary

Wow, looks great. I like how the focal point is in the centre of the photo oppose to the foreground.

I like this. It is obscure, one of those, "can you guess what this is" images. Very well done.

To be honest, and please don't take this to heart, I'm just a observer and it's not personal - I really don't get nature photography. I know you were trying to show 'erspective', you did ok, but there's just so much of it out there. People who do it on a master-level and it's still boring. Vary your subjects and have fun with it.

painting-with-light In reply to OpiateTart [2009-05-21 05:15:11 +0000 UTC]

I agree that there is a lot of nature photography all over the place which is why I do try to vary my shots, however nature photography is what I like most
By the way, perspective is not a nature shot

OpiateTart In reply to painting-with-light [2009-05-21 09:14:06 +0000 UTC]

I know, I know haha. But the subject. I wasn't dissing what you do, I mean there are so many people that look at my art and think 'hmm WTF?' it's just a matter of stylistic preference really. For nature photography to impress me, it has to be like insane, usually using macro lenses. So yeah, don't take it to heart, I really didn't mean anything bad.

No worries
I would hate it if people went 'hmm WTF?' about my work so I do understand you

I like the fact that the middle is in focus rather than the front (cliche sort of photo) The only thing that bugs me is the giant DA watermark that distracts my attention. But I love this shot nevertheless for its simplicity

painting-with-light In reply to iella [2009-05-03 17:27:21 +0000 UTC]

thanks a million Daniela for your comments and for the :+faf:
I know that the dA watermark is distracting but I think it is the best way of 'rotecting' our art work

Wow this is great!! I really like how the foreground and background are faded and how your eyes are immediately drawn to the middle of the photo. It really helps to add depth. Great shot .

There is no more of the railing available, perhaps I could have shown more of the supports?

thanks Greta. I like it as it is but as David pointed out it might be better to have the first 2 in focus ..... I guess we will never know unless someone takes such a shot
I guess we will all have different opinions about it.
