I feel you man, I -HATE- drawing buildings. Architecture is an enormous weakpoint of mine tbh, but you just have to like... push through it and practice. And look at a shitload of reference! And uh, also base all houses around boxes. That's basically what I do.

I'd be willing to post my process at some point in the future! I don't mind sharing it.

lol, I like the box idea- all of my people live in Carboard Boxes from now on.

And if you do share your process in the future, that would be very exciting  

I love learning how people work- I find it one of the best tools of expanding my own art.

There are benefits to the old style definitely, and in a lot of ways I wish I could refine it more... but the issue is that I felt it works better for longer-term paintings with a lot of moody lighting. Plus again like--it took me way longer than this one. Coloring could take upwards of two-three days with the old style, largely because it's gradient heavy mixed with shadows and those gradients have to be consistent (somewhat) panel to panel... whereas this is more 'OK PAINTBUCKET EVERYTHING GO GO YOU'RE DONE GET OUT.'

The one thing I regret is that the previous style contributed to a darker, heavier mood, and this one is more 'YEAH WE'RE GOIN' ON AN ADVENTURE FUN TIME COLORSSss.' But I also feel like in the second style the colors of the characters are truer to what they actually are (rather than Alantil suddenly shifting from looking semi-human-skintone to purple).

aaaa that freaking city i hope i don't ever have to draw a shot like this again. I really WANTED to skimp on it but the way I wanted the shot it just seriously wasn't possible, so I decided to suck it up and deal. plus learning experience. i whine like all the time about going outside of my comfort zone but it's always a good thing to push yourself and never avoid drawing something because you're afraid you can't do it. like cities and ice.

Haha yeah, it's his glasses. He lost those towards the end of Chapter 1, as he got punched in the face.

people are also saying he developed a longer face which is possible?

HNN BUILDINGS yeah basically. My friend who's kickass at cities once taught me like... you can build all sorts of neat narrative structures around cities, like planning out who lives where etc. And I started off that way... but then went 'HNNGH IF I SEE ANOTHER BUILDING I'M GONNA SHOOT MYSELF' and petered out pretty quick. i do not have the patience.

HAHA XD I completely understand! That last bit is pretty much me every time I've had to draw something like that XD combined with "GAH I'M NEVER DO THIS AGAIN".... which lasts about a day cause I have a short memory for these things :I. At lest these where just tiny buildings, didn't have to pull your hair out with details too Cx.
