This little Monarch seemed to pose for me. It stuck around for me to photograph until Adryan's big mouth ran it off. I had been trying all season to get a good photo of one. Well on this day I was able to get several.Same Monarch as this...

This is actually a Viceroy butterfly, not a Monarch

That is an excellent shot of a Viceroy (Limenitis archippus), not a Monarch. You can tell that by the black band that runs across the veins on the lower wings. Also, his head and thorax are the shape of most common brush foot butterflies.
He looks ready for take off here!
