That is an excellent shot of a Viceroy (Limenitis archippus), not a Monarch. You can tell that by the black band that runs across the veins on the lower wings. Also, his head and thorax are the shape of most common brush foot butterflies. He looks ready for take off here!It's a beautiful shot!
