Lessons with kekoa:
Although wolf attacks do occur, their frequency varies with geographical location and historical period.Β Gray wolf Β attacks are rare because wolves are often subsequently killed, or evenΒ extirpated Β in reaction by human beings. As a result, wolves today tend to live mostly far from people or have developed the tendency and ability to avoid them. The country with the most extensive historical records is France, where nearly 7,600 fatal attacks were documented from 1200β1920.[1] [2] Β In modern times, they occur most often in India and neighboring countries. There are few historical records or modern cases ofΒ wolf attacks in North America . In the half-century up to 2002, there were eight fatal attacks in Europe and Russia, three in North America, and more than 200 in south Asia.[3] Experts categorize wolf attacks into various types, includingΒ rabies -infected,Β predatory ,Β agonistic , andΒ defensive .

Wolf packs actually tend to stay away from humans; they'll be more likely to eat your pets or other animals...

So there's no need to point out that wolves are no better than hippos and lions then. After all, everyone who loves them acknowledges that they can be just as dangerous, am I right?

I hate stupid people who claime wolves aren't dangerous. If they want to pet wild wolf so much, they should also go to pet lion, tiger, shark, fox, eagle or hippo.

Um, let me just say that this stamp is very hateful, and no living thing deserves to be treated like this. It is actually more common for humans to kill wolves than it is for wolves to kill humans. The whole " big bad wolf " Image is the stuff of legend, that people have created. If any wolf actually was to kill a person, it would probably happen because the wolf was feeling threatened. Wolves are actually very shy.Β
I do not say this in a mean or rude way. I just want to make a point. being hateful never got anybody anywhere.

tigerchomped In reply to CylenaWolf [2014-10-22 19:04:09 +0000 UTC]
How is it being hateful? Wolves are carnivores, and like many carnivores they would kill you if given the chance. Don't give me that 'wolf attacks are rare' bs, because that's just silly.Β
It's so sad to see an amazing animal like the wolf lowered to fairy-tail Disney levels of 'they're nice, they don't want to hurt you'. If you cared about wolves, you would respect them for what they are. Powerful predators. Predators that, need I remind you, love to tear their living prey apart and devour them. They are not comparable to the domestic dog.Β
Also, wolves are not the most amazing animals in the entirety of the world. Educate yourself a little. Lordy.Β

CylenaWolf In reply to tigerchomped [2014-10-22 20:58:18 +0000 UTC]
I am aware that wolves are predators who kill live animals for food, but there is no need for stamps like this that accuse them of being man-eaters. And I am also aware that wolves are not the most amazing animals in the world, because all living things were made equal.Β
I just wanted to say it isn't fair the way people treat wolves. That is allΒ

Wolves statistically attack people in 1 out of 10 occasions. You're in more danger if you run into a moose or hippo. It has nothing to do with wolves being "kind" creatures of course, they're just extremely shy.

Um okay, pleaseΒ go pet a bear, eagle, fox, lion, tiger, shark or hippo, tell me how that works? What's your point, that the "1 out of 10" statistics isn't valid because it doesn't count all the people that sees a wild wolf and runs over to hug it?

"ZOMG THEY ONLY EET PPL IF THEY ARE RABID!1!1"
Wolves are not magical creatures who know what animals they can and can't eat. Weather it be carnivore or not, as long as said creature clearly looks defenseless, they will eat them!
only rabid herbivores animals eat people and meat. And some animals do have a personal preferance to food (sharks for example) but most just eat what they can.

Ziblink In reply to Little-rolling-bean [2014-10-16 18:53:41 +0000 UTC]
