A portrait from his 'Inception' film days which remains one of my favourite films of all time, but then again I like most of Leo's films
One of my Christmas Holiday specials - drawn on A3 Bristol Board with my usual Faber-Castell 9000 pencils 4H through to 8B it took me about 12 hours to finish.

how do you get your art work so dark? The contrast is incredible!

I tend to use a Mars Lumograph 8B pencil for the really dark areas - it is less 'shiny' than other 8B pencils and really provides depth to the blacks

Thanks Mark - this is actually the first original I have sold ---- Sold lots of prints before, but never wanted to or perhaps had the opportunity to sell an original, put it on my wechat account and sold it within 10 minutes - now if I could do that every day I could give up work

To be honest Mark, I have never been interested in selling my work - its not why I do it. However I was made an offer I could not refuse and the whole experience has been surprisingly enjoyable - at first I was sad to let it go, but then felt excited about selling more - the thought of other people hanging my work in their home/workplace/wherever actually makes me feel good - and its probably better than being just piled up in a portfolio or cupboard?

Amazing! When i saw this in my deviations list it stood out. Not surprised it was by you again! Do you find it daunting drawing a celebrity because they're so recognisable so the slightest mistake will be very obvious? Great stuff on the drawing btw!

Hi - drawing a celebrity or a well known person is always difficult, some more than others - if you imagine that just a 1mm difference in nose size, jaw line or eye position is what makes us all look slightly different you can understand why they can be difficult to draw (or paint etc.), however they do allow for lots of great reference pictures to use - so until I improve my photographer skills

this actually looks like a movie poster
he'd been an under rated actor for years so it was cool that he finally got to
do these kind of movies, inception, the departed etc etc
his noes is greatly executed and the facial hair is great too
but i'm most impressed by how you did his eyebrow
you can really feel the space inbetween and under the individual hairs.

I agree - although I must admit that I did not like him when he was young (The Beach, Titanic etc.) I have come to love his new work and his older works as I have got older myself - glad you liked his eyebrow - I think I spent more time on that than any other part of the drawing

it doesn't help that The beach and especially Titanic were terrible terrible movies! Brando himself couldn't have made that script sound good
