It's kinda dizzying, in a very cool way.

How can you get such a long exposure with the 30D? I own a 20D and the longest I can get is 30 seconds, unless I go for the bulb option, then I'm left holding the shutter down like a tool.

I bought a remote trigger for it, you use the lock function on the trigger while in full manual on bulb mode.

The remotes are pretty cheap on ebay

Wow, incredible!
I always wondered how people make such long exposures without overexposing the picture itself

My God, look at the rotation of the star...that's incredible. Is it safe to assume that you had to use Manual Focus for this shot? I'm having such difficulties focusing in very dark conditions.

Man, I have to get myself a remote, this is insanely unreal.

Odd. I took many shots in the 20-30 minute range with my 300D and never got noise like this. But I usually kept my ISO at 100-200 and would only have to deal with a hot pixel or two.

Love the painted effect you achieved here.

I used to have a Fuji S7000, it was a sweet camera to use, not much noise though, cos you never change the lense.
