When I saw Mystique's X-men costume in the trailer I was like "wow they paying homage to the classic outfit. That's awesome" Then I see the whole costume and I go "Oh....."I think Mystique wearing a tactical suit is a stupid idea. Her character was meant to infiltrate, spy,Β impersonate, and steal. All she need is her ability. In the comics, her outfit is not a cloth, its part of her so they transform with her as she shapeshift. If she wears a suit then her powers becomes pointless.
But that's just my opinion
I made 3 versions of Mystique here, Bare, X-gear and Classic versions. WhichΒ do you guys prefer?ps: If Jennifer Lawrence doesn't want to be Mystique in the next film then please don't make her, Fox. She looks bored throughout the entire film.

Comic fans are so hard to please. I'm sure they didn't forget that her costume is meant to transform as well. FOX will never be able to win because as you pointed out, having her wear a costume is pointless. They decided that it was pointless and gave her the sexy scales. Fans bitched. They gave her a costume and guess what...Fans still bitching lol

Honestly, I liked her suit in the movie, mostly for the reason that you said that it was an homage, but Im not all for it. Yours on the other hand I love. It has that classic look to it, but youve upgraded it enough to look recent, you used the elements I liked most of her movie suit, and combined them with her comic suit to make the perfect suit. If you dont mind, Id love to use your design for a micro Ive been planning on doing of her, but havent been able to come up with a suitable alternate look for her.

I was expecting that Mystique dies in Apocalypse but oh well :v at least let's hope she doesn't appear a lot in the next movie which would be another adaptation of the Phoenix Saga Β

To bes hoenst, while I am not fully on the same boat as you, Jennifer's performance this time wasn't as strong as her acting in the previous installments of the Prequel Trilogy. The strongest I can think of were when she was getting chocked by Apocalypse (trigger warning for those offended by that harmless billboard) and Mystique's speech at the end.
