-- strengths- moonsoo can adapt to just about anything thrown at him. because of years and years of training in music and theatre, moonsoo is the perfect choice for almost any role offered or given to him. whether it be small roles, such as commercials or a feature on a song, moonsoo can just about do it all.
- moonsoo is fluent in english, thanks to his mother and special tutors. because of this, he can articulate easily and speak to foreign reporters without much help or effort, making him extremely easy to speak with and understand.
- he's very active - he prefers to maintain a healthy, clean lifestyle, making him a positive role model to those around him.
-- weaknesses
- public persona could use some extreme work. he's extremely selective in who he speaks to, especially when it comes to reporters, tabloids and paparazzi. because of this, he's known to ignore people or treat them poorly [ whether it be by answering a question with another question or speaking in a condescending tone ] and will reject any question or common he doesn't feel is worth answering. because of this, he doesn't do well on talk shows or variety shows.
- despite having a fashionable mother and younger sister, his wardrobe could use some work. he prefers to wear either athletic wear or thrifted clothing. of course, he makes it look 'good', but it looks rough at times. he hates expensive, designer clothing and will avoid wearing it. he should listen to his stylist more.
- he wants to write his own music, but because his mother often took care of the writing, he never got a chance to do so. when it comes to writing, his creativity isn't really there and he often leaves it to someone else.
-- personality
+ mature | + determined | + observant | + selfless || - dreamy | - oblivious | - indecisive | - bitter
overall, moonsoo is a pretty great guy. he's easy to talk to, understand and more importantly - befriend. at times, his interests and the things he say and do are beyond his years - he believes in hard work, honesty and respect to get by in the world and often preaches it, making him more mature than those he surrounds himself with. he believes nothing comes for free and would rather work for it, rather than have it be given to him. his determined personality is admired by both his fans and those he works with. moonsoo enjoys his work and takes it very seriously, wanting it to be perfect and go smoothly, meaning he's extremely observant, paying close attention to what his coaches and mentors tell him to do, say and/or act. while his serious and hard working personality may be off putting, he's sweet on those he works with and cares for and is willing to show that with selfless acts of kindness and affection - he'll quite literally do anything for you.
however, moonsoo isn't as perfect as everyone thinks he is. he's a dreamy boy - his mind wanders quite a bit, thinking of situations and conversations that could never happen, but he wishes that could happen. he daydreams quite a bit and is quite oblivious to the world and people around him at times, especially when it involves the feelings of others. he tends to avoid serious topics, especially decisions. he's indecisive and would rather someone else (or anyone, really) to handle serious decisions and topics - he fears making the wrong decision and wouldn't want to risk it. unknown to most, he can be envious of others at times, even over the smallest things. whether it be hand holding or spending time with a loved one, he's terribly bitter and keeps it to himself.
[ biography ][ cw | abuse mention ]
"ask me no questions, i'll tell you no lies. haha - i'm kidding."
[ 0-8 yrs old ]
moonsoo was born to eunju and sungmin cha in 1995. at the time, his parents were retired and ready to settle down and start a family, moonsoo being the perfect addition for them. they moved from a small town and to a nice home in seoul in 1997, when moonsoo was only two years old. his family was well off financially, so moonsoo never knew struggle - instead, he spent a great deal of time with his mother and father, doing simple things that families did, such as hiking, going out to eat, watching movies and having picnics. unfortunately, this all came to a close when eunju caught wind of an open audition for a children's fashion magazine. because of her connections, moonsoo was able to be the cover boy for a children's fashion company. he spent three years with this company before parting ways.
[ 8 - 13 yrs old ]
with a successful portfolio [ thanks to his mother ], moonsoo was ready to enter the modeling world. because of this, he was deprived of a normal childhood. instead of doing extracurriculars or joining any clubs, he spent time doing photoshoots and modeling. whenever he had free time, he often spent it studying, reading scifi books or watching alien movies. when he was 12, his mother decided he was ready for film and television. his first official role was in a horror film, playing the possessed son of a single mother. the movie did well and this opened many doors for him.
[ 14 - 18 yrs old ]
at age 14, moonsoo was scouted for a teen drama show, playing one of the main characters. because his schedule was busy, his mother pulled him out of school and instead, had him homeschooled. she hired excellent tutors, who often taught him university level subjects. because of this, he became extremely fluent in english in a year and a half. when he wasn't studying or filming, his attention was on idols and popstars. he admired their moves, their dances and the fun they had. of course, he couldn't do that - he was just an actor and model. however, as he continued to watch and admire idols, he mustered up the courage to ask his mother for singing and dance lessons. unsurprisingly, she agreed. when he was 16, she hired the best dancers and vocal coaches and took care of the writing herself. from then on, they began to look for agencies accepting young, aspiring idols.
[ 18 - 21 yrs old ]
being scouted wasn't an issue - because of his impressive portfolio and looks, he was recruited by DYNASTY entertainment, with promises to debut by his 20th birthday. moonsoo was only 18 when he signed on and despite being young, he was determined. unfortunately, when he signed on and began his training, his parents weren't so involved as they had always been. this, in a way, made him happy - he was free from their pushy, overbearing behavior. unfortunately, he was passed around from coach to coach, not really learning much. instead, he was only used for advertising for things such as clothes and shoes. next to advertisements, he was featured in numerous commercials and given spots in shows, movies and web serieses. however, none of this satisfied him - he wanted to sing. he wanted to rap. when he turned 19, his mother became pushy, wondering why her son wasn't getting the proper training. a legal battle ensued, where she fought to become his manager again.
unfortunately, the contract stopped her from becoming his manager and instead, left him with a new manager, known by kang. kang wasn't great, but moonsoo was happy - it wasn't his mother. however, he never answered moonsoo's questions or his parents, for that matter. instead, he did what he wanted and signed moonsoo for up for numerous roles, some without his consent or knowledge. because of this, moonsoo was overworked, which resulted in him being hospitalized quite a bit. although kang was rough, he did some nice things for moonsoo - he gave him features on songs, with promises of a debut. whenever moonsoo would ask about his debut, kang never gave him a direct answer.
when moonsoo turned 20, he threatened to leave DYNASTY. after an argument between him and kang, their relationship became strained. kang grew worse - mentally and sometimes, physically. because of his contract with DYNASTY, moonsoo couldn't disclose what went on between the two or the company for that matter. months after his 20th birthday, moonsoo was hospitalized for reasons unknown - there were rumors from tabloids all over, making moonsoo uncomfortable and withdrawn from the public. when rumors of overworked and abused idols from DYNASTY became public, moonsoo wanted to speak up, but instead, he terminated his contract with DYNASTY, with the encouragement of his family and other DYNASTY members.
[21 yrs old - now ]
once he left DYNASTY, his family decided he'd take a break from being the in the spotlight. for a year straight, moonsoo spent his time at home, watching movies, reading and hiking alone. he took a year to himself to recuperate and get himself together. he desperately wanted to rap and dance again - and he did so at time. he'd preform for family members or for strangers [ if anyone recognized him in public ], but it wasn't enough. when he turned 22, he decided he wanted to get back out there - nothing could stop him from his dreams. one of his old friends told him about YM-Entertainment and how well they treated their idols and trainees. moonsoo was unsure, but after a month of thinking it over, he had his mom send in his portfolio. a few weeks later, he found himself at home with YM-Entertainment.
he was a little rocky at first, taking a year long break, but he quickly got his act together and is determined to work harder than over.
