Season: Spring 2024
Location: Grotto camp

Prompt: 'How long have you been standing there?'

Summary: The hours rolled by like minutes, Eigel lost track of time as he stared listlessly into the horizon. Packs had been displaced, families torn apart, everyone had lost someone. The Grotto camp had struggled for a while but somehow managed to pull together. Eigel had contributed little. It seemed that anytime he tried to help, he would make a mistake. He was trapped in a daze and his limbs kept trembling. Perhaps some food would help but his stomach was tied in knots.

His thoughts were a haze, flipping from cautious optimism to mind-numbing anxiety. Outwardly, the Barbarian sat at still as a statue. He had found a corner of the Grotto, a place where he wouldn't get in anyone's way, and sat there silently. He was so lost in his thoughts that he barely noticed the dark-maned, golden figure approaching him. Eigel assumed it was a stranger and that they wanted to talk to someone behind him. However...

"Ei-Eigel?" The wolf called, his voice sounded young.

Taken off guard, Eigel's blurred vision quickly focused on the youngster standing in front of him. He recognized those blue eyes, those markings and that scar... Could it be?

"Is that... little Zeke?" The Barbarian asked, his voice soft and slightly hoarse from disuse.

The boy wasn't so little anymore, though. He had grown so much, he was already quite taller than Maeve. Despite everything that had happened, Eigel was relieved that the juvenile appeared (somewhat) unharmed.

"Yeah, it's me." Zeke answered with a small smile, "It's been a long time. Hasn't it?"

Woowoo! Sensei and the student have reunited! <3

Eigel wasn't happy that Zeke ran away, especially if its to track down Venka, but the flood has wrecked everything and everyone. More than anything, I think he's just relieved that Zeke is alright.

Golden did the colors, shading and lighting fx while I did the sketch, BG and line-art. Thank you again for another lovely collab!
