Alone watching one of the most incredible sunsets I've seen in years. This place became an instant favorite the moment I laid eyes on the tufa formations. I've seen so many images from here I knew I had to add it to my list of travels. I could spend weeks here photographing all there is around the lake and want to return for another few weeks. All within two days, I took some of my favorite images to date. I have heard that a sierra sunset is something to see once in your life, and I was lucky enough to get one within hours of my trip. This image was taken just a few yards from :thumb305033607: and shows a more traditional composition. My favorite part about this image, is that there is an active osprey nest on the tufa formation in the back and I was lucky enough to view them interacting with one another. Just wish I could have gotten a great shot of them over the tufas.Mono lake, California.

You certainly were in the best company possible to appreciate the moment (better to be alone, than to be in bad company). I can feel the awe and solitude from the image, it feels like my heart just skipped a beat. It's hard to realise at times that there is such beauty out there, and that you can really see it if you go out of your way to get there. I think that this might be my favourite photo of yours...
