I think the only way to "save" the drawing would be to remove the box entirely with photoshop.

The white lines are a box made of popsicle sticks that the girl decorated with buttons, bows, and the orange feather.It's a homemade present she made for her Mom.
I chose a bad area to fade out, since the no one would know what the girl is holding. Live and learn.
