OK, obviously I love the pose and I especially love the facial expression, but I feel compelled to finally ask this question: why do artists have such a fascination with eyeglasses? Seriously, as someone who wears glasses herself, I can tell you that, unless they were literally strapped to the head, the glasses would be gone in about the first 30 seconds of a fight. And if they were strapped on, then they'd be broken in less than a minute.

They're cute? Like, they change the way a face looks, frequently for the better. They can put emotional distance between us and the wearer, or signify that this is not someone who frequently participates in athletic endeavors.
I know for me (and my two glasses wearing characters) it's that incongruity of "glasses don't belong here in this situation" that makes it appealing...

Haha naw I blame anime, and like anime I find the glasses are there purely for artistic reasons. they add to the characters persona and whatnot but I agree they are impractical in a match for the very reasons you stated.
