Description Commissioned by of their OC Katriane

Wired wings and body so it can be posed. The darker blue and gray tips of the horns are done with marker. Light blue neck, belly, to tail patch is sewn on. The white part of the wing is felt. The character had light blue, but the lightest felt i could find wasn't light enough.

Stop, just stop it. You have mastered the art of creating dragon wings that are as correct as possible and can pose to suit the creatures needs. Master, I am not worthy.
This is so awesome! I just love how much you can manipulate the poses of everything you make, but these wings especially. Using felt instead of crochet material for the wings themselvesΒ is a genius idea, it really helps achieve that paper-thin look.

Thank you so much! Being able to pose all these things is a lot of fun. This pose was particularly challenging especially since I wanted to get all the limbs in the same view without making it look awkward. Crochet wings look pretty cool, but take a long time to do. Using felt gets the thinner look and are super poseable, but also saves time for me and money for anyone that is commissioning me.

I still cannot crochet decent wings. I just... physically cannot. I'm going to have to try your technique sometimes or at least felt wings. That's awesome that they're easier and more cost-friendly, because I think they ultimately look more polished than most crochet wings.

They are pretty tricky. I've managed to avoid dragon wings for a while because I didn't want to crochet them. Hard to avoid making them bulky, heavy, or without holes between them. Even worse if its a double layered set. Making them with thin light weight yarn would help, but that would take even longer. Felt works well for the webbing, let me know if you try it out, I'd love to see it

Do you come up with the patterns your self?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pickleweasel360 In reply to JennyBlue [2015-03-31 03:05:46 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Sometimes I modify my previous patterns slightly, but other times like this, I make it up on the fly.
