You're right.Β The other problem is just not understanding the character and rewriting them to fit their own - sometimes perverse - ideals.Β I think the friendship presented in Prime was good as it was.Β Β

But even then it looked like he was accidentally shooting, as he didn't even look at the Vehicons when he did so. (As far as I remember @.@; ) Although he did have his guns, he didn't know how to use them properly, read: aim, or even fight, as he got his shiny butt kicked quick by Megatron for even trying to fight. Right?

If he was, I don't think he would have made such an appearance/influence as Optimus Prime (or needed name change), nor he would have been chosen to be Prime, depending which universe we look at. Becoming a hero and a warrior from your everyday librarian makes a bigger impression!
