Yes... all but memories now... majestic mountains once stood there, stripped away in time by greed and corruption, coal mining via stripping the rich soils and natural layers in search of coal and destroying the natural watertable and habitata in its wake, in the name of greed...

Thank you... late afternoon in the hills, Lecher Co, Ky. Stripping the landscape, damaging, but there's beauty remembering what once was...

Thank you, a little underexposed, but the message of strip mining evident.

Nice analogy... but more haunting than one is lead to believe... an ever changing landscape.

What a gorgous shot. I love how the background is light but the foreground is so dark. What cool contrast!

It was as if I as deep in the ground at its base looking up to the light... thank you

a picture to witness man's destruction of nature, once removed, never to be seen again... strip mining may have its merits, but the price our land and nature pay, unforgiven. Safe, clean energy and viable options will be needed, no, necessary for the survival of mankind.

Exactly what I wanted to comment as well! Except I couldn't find the right way to say it.

There's so much to see and preserve in an ever-changing landscape... preservation and ecology need to be on everyone's mind, especially today!

Well said!
Sadly not so many things about this... which is so sad-
For example here in my country our actual President has sold wood to other countries (the forest had so many trees taken down and the sight was just...so heart wrecking.)
