Description Oh, it's puurty. I'm pretty happy with it.

This is a wooden, hand carved katana that I worked on over the course of several years, and the subject of my tutorial set on Youtube.

I tried to make each part of the sword as authentic as possible, and the sword can be broken down into it's parts, just like a real katana.

Some parts of the sword were carved out of wood, and then cast in plastic for reproduction. The tsuba or handguard was my primary reason for casting, as I may do a companion sword later on to complete the daisho.

Overall, I have close to 150 hours into this project, including painting and finishing. It's closer to 200 if I include all the times I screwed up!

Many thanks to all who waited patiently for me to finish the tutorials, and to all my watchers, who always have nice things to say about my work!

Hi. I've watched your tutorials but I am not sure what kind of bias tape you used for the tsukamaki: single fold, double wide, etc. Does the sageoito also use the same tape as well?

I don't know if you are still around here, but I just finished my own pair of wooden katanas (Sadly not following your tutorials), and I'm pretty happy with them, but I gotta say that your work is just beautiful, dude! Nice work!

As always you think you are going an ok/good job with your swordmaking skill and then you or fixinman obliterates us

The good news is that I still have room for improvement !
And I really need to find a place to make a new katana. Made the last one more than 2 years ago and I'm missing working with wood !

Spectacular work as always.

But as a fellow sword maker there is one issue I'd like to ask you.
Are your pieces of wood you acquire always perfectly straight and not warped?

It's really the only big problem I have making swords most of the time.
There's quite a sickening feeling when you look down the spine of a sword and it curves off to the left or right ever so slightly.
