Annnnd, it's finally done.I really don't have anything to say about this that I didn't mention in the WIP, [link] Except that it didn't take as long as I thought, I enjoyed painting it very very much, and this is probably the best thing I've ever done.
Also, I have butterflies in my stomach.
(Open Canvas, wacom tablet, around 6/7 hours total. All on one multiply layer, apart from some warm lighting effects on Finley (the drunk) and the smoke, which got its very own layer.)

The tilted nature of this really makes you share his drunken ambling @_@ I don't think this could have possibly worked if it weren't for the tilt. XD Awesome piece and great use of the angle to portray the subject.

Yay! I am ridiculously fond of this character, and he is a drunk - in fact, there was a very specific scene written in which he is shuffling about lopsidedly just like this, at night. He ended up having his head held under the water by a very tall sailor to sober him up. XD

Wow, you do some amazing skin tones. Also, here what really enchants me is the pose, the angle you used for this is quite brilliant and the dark tones overall. Great attention to little things, the soft lamp halos, the cigarette smoke (simple but wow!) and just... I'm liking this much.

& it's more the portrayal of the subject matter, when I rethink it. lots of portraits showing substance (ab)use are just somebody lying on a table out of focus with a beer bottle in the main focus, something like that, you know? & this, yours, isn't the way I usually see the matter portrayed, and it worked so well that I was taken aback for a bit, which I interpreted as being disturbed.
definitely keep working with ideas like this if it pleases you, there's so many ways to work with the material. you bet it's interesting

Nice sense of anatomy here! You definitely understand what's going on beneath the skin, whereas so many people would just draw lumps of flesh.
Out of random curiosity, how old are you? Or how old were you when you drew this?

Meh, it was just a good title. XD I didn't intend for him to look quite so miserable, but then... it's very hard to smile when you're drinking! XD And this character is a drunk... so he drinks a LOT.
Anyway. Thanks! The smoke is hand painted - my first try at realistic hand painted smoke. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. (:

yay! He is very very drunk. I wrote that scene at tazlure... him turning up to the arsenale drunk as a skunk. It got him dunked headfirst in the Vedicus (the canal, there) and half-drowned to sober him up! XD
If there's one thing I still don't like much, it's the way the shirt sleeve around his bent arm is. His left arm. Couldn't get that right. But then, the shirtsleeve on his other arm is probably one of the better fabric thingies I've done. So I'm pretty pleased with this, I s'pose.
.....okay, I'm totally hopping! XD I couldn't sleep, despite the fact that it is 4am here! That and my birthday and some other stuff has me all restless and excited, and I caaaan't sleeeep.... XD bad me. (;
