just a quick, lazy little painting of a dryad. I've been trying to do this image for ages, and this is about my fourth attempt. Not perfect, but a damn sight closer than my other attempts... it was the hair I was particularly interested in doing. Root-like, almost dreadlocked hair... anyway. A lazy one, because I couldn't be arsed to paint her body, just her face and hair...but anyway.
OC, wacom intuos 2, and about 2 hours

Depends. In art, it's good. In reality, it can be somewhat worrying (I once had a teacher with dreads, and I *swear* they *twitched*!)

*shudders* No, I don't *think* they were infested- the popular theory was that is wasn't really his hair at all, but some stange creature living on his head.

I adore this one. Among other things, I like the way she looks more feral than a lot of the airyfairy fantasy images you see on the web these days... very fitting for a dryad

oh, brilliant! That's exactly how I wanted her to look, too... all dreadlocked and feral and a wild thing. *grins* I really oughta redo this image at some point... I still didn't get the image I imagined out of my head, if ya know what I mean? Darnit.

WOW! That's a far superior image all around! Is it just that you're simply amazingly skillfull and an artistic genious, or does Open Canvas make being an artist really, really easy? Hahaha
Of course not! YOU are a genius to make such works. I know better trhan most that computer tools are just the same as pencils and paper, paint and board etc ^_^ All the work and skill in there is always your's alone.
What a brill piece.
You should work on these extra huge so you can turn them into a high quality calender or something!

Oh, thank you Oz! I haven't seen you in an age! and it's good to hear from you again! *hugs* I'm working on the painting, as you can see.... and it's always nice tio receive a compliment from a talented artist, so your words mean an awful lot to me. ^_^
The calender is a cool idea... but I'll have to see. Working on a website for me atm... hoping to get some more work with it, anyway. One can only hope. *grins*

welllll.... I just updated her, with more detail, and things.... (cntrl-f5, folks) so yeah. (; I might do another in future... or I might not. I dunno. She was fun to paint though! especially her little butterfly.
