I really do adore to make them, they not only is but they are really lovely.
I guess to make 1000 cranes will take a while, good luck. I'm sure they will look great.

I guess you just need to practice a little. Origami is quite simple after you have learn it.

It is normal origami paper( a pack with around 100 sheets) that i bought on a hobby store. I guess you can buy it from most of the hobby shops.

Normally are they cut up in the exact right size, around 150x150 mm

No, just the first times when you make the bird base that you have to make for to get the crane. But it is very easy after you have done it some times.
