Aw...you draw marvelous deer. Your horses are good as it is and so are you cars, but your deer...they look so cute and exactly like how they are meant to be without looking too white tail or elk and the little calves are cute. I like the little image of Starbuck and Herne. Sometime can do do some of the hinds from the book?

Oh I hope you do, you have done an excellant job with the ones you have so far (especially making them deer like and not elk like, I kept thinking the ones I drew were looking too much like elk) and...this book seems so little known and what is known tends to leave out characters. I only seen one picture of Haarg (the hornless stag that Rannoch befriends) and two for any of the Fallow Deer with the weird eye balls. It's hard figuring out the undercolors too, I was looking at a dozen pictures as their undersides are normal white like on Fallow or White-tails (which I am used too). Have you read the original Bambi books? It would be nice to see some art for that (I wish they made Bambi's children the sequel since I love Gurri's spunky personality)

Well I've noticed that red deer and elk look very similar XD.
But yeah I have the original bambi books. I noticed that most folks including Disney had drawn them all wrong. They're always drawn as white-tails even though they are Roe deer.

Yeah, even though red deer are more gingerish in color. To me I think of elk as being more...neutral in color, their hides are more Earthen tones and the bulls horns sweep back, but I wonder if the two are closely related.
I don't know for sure, but I think Disney wanted to make the deer more familiar. In the United States we have white-tail deer which are pretty much the main thing (with the occasional mule deer which I have yet to encounter). But I think it is better to keep to the natural plotline and ways. Roe deer kind of do resemble white-tail deer but location is one thing...
I think they should had made them roe deer and made Bambi's children the true sequel (why would we care what happened while he was growing up? especially when that didn't show much in the later parts of the movie?) I so want that Bambi's children book, I think it provides a good example of how motherhood is not easy and such, I kind of wish Gurri is covered more as she matures since I love her personality (and how she and her brother constantly cause their mother problems).
But I liked that book, it provided a interesting look to life for a young deer and a interesting skill (like going in circles if wounded by a bullet).
