Boyd has been looking for Owen for a few days since Owen dropped off the grid the week before. He has finally tracked Owen down to this ancient hotel in the middle of nowhere. The tiretracks photoshop brushes are from www.brusheezy.com/brushes and are free with attribution.Related content

They are okay. In fact this event is a catalyst that helps reforge their bond as partners.
Owen had been deployed without Boyd for 2 years. When he gets back, he discovers Boyd has a new body- the blonde man he is today. He's radically different than the little brain Owen used to know- but appealingly so. What is not appealing is that Boyd is very protective and humorless and slightly controlling. Normally owen would put Boyd in his place, but, Owen's got some injuries that prevent him from being as assertive as he likes. Owen discovers that Boyd has used his position as Alpha, to revoke al his console and Com-width permissions to try to force Owen to get some R&R and this devolves into an argument.
Boyd has to leave for a week to do a maneuver with his temporary partner, and so Owen remains behind. His broken leg is doing better and is under weight, but otherwise is on the mend.
Β When a friend contacts him needing some help, Owen agrees to go and help him, leaving a note for Boyd. He plans to come back in plenty of time but Boyd returns early.
Boyd feels he was wrong to argue with Owen and wants to apologize... But when he discovers Owen is missing he is worried.
He tracks Owen to the hotel, where he discovers Owen is fine. His intent to apologize is quashed though when he discovers Owen is working a case-without him. Β When he calms down, he does apologize and admits he's feeling inadequate as Owen's partner and as a human being since he has failed to protect Owen multiple times and finds it hard to be human, that his efforts to control Owen were intended to keep him safe, but backfired. Owen is actually not mad at Boyd, and that he loves him the way he is, but that they've both become a lot alike.Β Β Together they solve the mystery at the motel.
