I may have an opportunity to be busier with my art and music... just not the kind of opportunity I would have wanted due to lack of a steady paycheck.

I'm sorry to hear that. Basic security is important for creativity, and I think there is a common misconception that art thrives on insecurity and hardship, if you do not have a fundamental and basic security all energy will be consumed by this sense of -or actual insecurity. So I am really sorry to hear that, my friend, and hope it won’t come to that, for you in the end.

I'm sure you're right, but it definitely helps psychologically to be doing SOMETHING... even yesterday, when I was about as depressed as I've ever been in the past 20 years, just doing a bit of work on a couple of paintings was distracting enough to pull me out of it a little. hopefully it doesn't get that bad, times are tough.
