Haha, I don't think there has to be a counterbalance!
But obviously his work appeals to some people.
I don't mind dark and moody art, some of my own art is dark and moody, believe it or not, I just don't post it on here. But I don't admire art that glorifies either physical or spiritual decay.

the problem with me is that i'm not blind to biblical stories that from any perspective possible, left a very questionable teaching like phineas story, and how he stabbed two people in love, the believers always will see there some inmorality but for someone more critical it always will looks like a fanatic killing people that very probably only fell in love there...

Would you remind me where to find that story about Phineas? It's not ringing any bells for me. I'm happy to read it and comment. I don't think I read the Bible with a closed mind. At this point in my life, my understanding is that it is the inspired word of God, but I also know that it's been written by people and people are flawed. There's many stories in the Old Testament in particular that I struggle with, and I'm definitely prepared to listen to reasonable people's viewpoints and not just ignorantly gloss over the issues. There's definitely some fanatical psycho's in the Bible.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phinehas
there is the info, and surely you will tell me that the israelite shouldn't had to intermarry with a madianite woman(it could be easily understood as xenophobia) or that they were in something sexually unadequated, but the fact that zimri questioned openly moses's law makes me to think that zimri honestly thought that moses law had no sense, what if they were simple really in love and their only crime was to think that there could be aΒ middle term?(the madianites, after all, were defending their land against an outside invader) as always, we only can read the story from the viewpoint fo the victorious, and to cite biblical verses stating that there is no middle term with the biblical god and other gods is EXACTLY THE TYPE OF DISCURSE that one could expect to hear from a fanatical cult if you ask me.

I think I see where you're coming from, and it does seem like a pretty drastic act. Like you say, the story is told from the viewpoint of the victorious, and unfortunately we can't ask Zimri or Kozbi whether they were truly in love or whether they just wanted a roll in the hay and didn't care if they angered God in the process.
What many people don't understand is that God wanted the Israelite people to follow only Him, the one true God, and the Moabites and Midianites were enticing the Israelite people to worship their so-called Gods, in particular Baal. The worship of Baal was so evil, that among other things it involved child sacrifice. Now THAT's a real fanatical cult. I'm sure that you'd agree that child sacrifice is pure evil. I completely understand that the true God would be infuriated by His people metaphorically spitting in His face by deliberately choosing to partake in a false religion that was so evil. Then this guy, Zimri, publicly marches into camp with a Midianite woman, a woman involved in the worship of a false god who demanded child sacrifices, and takes her to his tent to fool around. I seriously doubt it was because he was genuinely in love, more like he was in lust. He was making a very public statement to everyone that he was rejecting the true God in favour of indulging in his desires. So Phinehas the priest feels God's righteous anger at this and kills them. Yeah, it is pretty full on and drastic, but I wonder if maybe we think that the reaction was too fanatic because in this day and age our societies in general have lost sight of what constitutes an evil act, and we tend to say that anything is permissible 'as long as you're not hurting anyone else'. But we don't realise we're hurting God who created us, and also hurting ourselves in the long run.Β Β Β

i agree tht the human sacrifice is hideous ,as the myth of lycaon and zeus clearly portrays it(yes, maybe it surprise you but not all the pagans agreed with the idea of the human sacrifices, or why do you think there is no such trace of it in egyptian culture, or why do you think that quetzalcoatl, yes a pagan god itself, opposed to it?), but from that and to state that they were fooling around is something serious, since you clearly are stating that is OK to kill someone who don't follow your same religion, and that is exactly in the same level of malice than to make human sacrifices, because both harm other in the name of imaginary beings...

Now you're starting to put words into my mouth, which is not cool, man. It doesn't surprise me at all that not all pagans were into human sacrifice, all I said was that Baal worshipers were, so don't go twisting what I'm saying, or I'm done talking to you. Also no, I'm NOT stating it's okay to kill someone just because they don't follow your same religion, that's ridiculous and you'd have to be a complete idiot to think that I was suggesting that. I'm saying that human sacrifice is evil, and that the Israelites were instructed by God to stamp out the people who were practicing evil acts such as those.
Anyway I think I'm done with this conversation. Thanks for checking out my art and the nice comments you said about it, I wish you all the best.

In a drawing program I wrote for a now obsolete desktop computer, I included many macros. One of them was the Menorah. The macro then lit the candles in the traditional sequence. The program was wholly in machine code, and I was proud of my accomplishment. I also still mourn the loss of the Apple ][c+ and despise Bill Gates for declaring it obsolete. He never renamed the company and I despise him for THAT as well. . Every time I see Apple ads, I getr angry all over again. Β

Hi Miguel, I'm glad you like the art.
The artwork was created for Scripture Union, and they own the rights to the art. You would have to contact them and explain exactly what you would be using the artwork for, and negotiate with them. The art is from the Big Bible Challenge, published in many languages by Scripture Union, and is therefore already being used to share the Good News about God and Jesus.
I doubt they would grant you the right to use the images, but no harm in asking them!
I myself don't have the rights to permit people to use the art, sorry.
Good luck!

No problem, Just do a google search for Bible Society Australia or Scripture Union UK, and I'm sure you will find contact details on their website.
