Description BEDROCK GEM. An item to be held by a Pokémon. This unearthed fossilized gemstone protects the holder from ATTACK reduction by foes.

For a very critical reason , I would like to take this opportunity to thank all future ers and ers of my works.

I'm back [semi-back, though] in Fakemon business. I was able to free up a few days these coming months, so I guess I'd be able to submit a few Fakemon here and there. And continuing from where I left off, here's an item I decided to add to my gallery!

Bedrock Gem protects the holder from having its ATTACK stat reduced by the opponent's moves, abilities, and items. However, self-inflicted reduction will still occur, like negative effects of an attack the holder did. For some reason, this ancient gemstone seems to have something to do with Physical Attackers and the move AncientPower... Hmm?

Bedrock Gem evolves these Pokémon into prehistoric Fakemon when held upon trading:
Carnivine ---> Carnitrex
Arbok ---> Snepres
Dunsparce ---> Quetzparce
Liepard ---> Felinheist

Bedrock Gem is mine!
Carnitrex , Snepres , Quetzparce , and Felinheist are also mine!

This actually very good idea. What if it was a Fossilized Mega Stone?...
Turning the Pokemon back to their true Most Powerful Form. But do they turn back after the battle, or do they stay in this "Half"-Evolution.
If they stay in this form, i say, call it a "Meta" Evolution, like a mega evolution, but permeant and it could be forever...
Some existing Pokemon that should be evolved like this should be:
1) Carbink/Diancie (Even though Diancie is said to get a mega, this Evolution would fit it way better.)
2) Onix/Steelix (They both would look cool, and this could give Onix some more options for people to use in battle.)
3) Golem (A new Golem would be very helpful, maybe they could learn Ancient Power. It could become a bigger defender, with more higher defensive, and special defensive stats, for the cost of some speed.)

After thinking about it over the past few months, I've come to see the evolution method associated with this item to be a bit similar to Mega Evolution and an expression of atavism (the resurgence of previously lost traits). This comes from seeing the resulting Pokemon less as ancestors and more as "atrophied" evolutions, forms that were once naturally obtained but were long since lost when the previous Pokemon forewent evolving into them. In the case of Quetzparce, because it was hunted so much, Dunsparce stopped evolving into it so it could spend more time hiding underground. The same concept applies to Carnitrex: Carnivine stopped evolving into it because it no longer had to compete with larger Pokemon. In regards to Felinheist, I would suspect that Purrloin originally evolved directly into it when living in a cooler climate, but when it's environment changed, it abandoned evolving into Felinheist in favor of a new form (Liepard) better suited to the new circumstances (the same goes for Snepres). The similarity to Mega Evolution is that much like how the resonance of the Mega Stones allows the respective Pokemon to evolve further, the unusual traits of the Bedrock Gem unlock the underlying potential these Pokemon still have to evolve into these forms.

I like how in depth your explanation and understanding of my Bedrock Gem concept in relation and comparison with the Mega Evolution concept introduced in the latest generation. And yes, atavism is what I was going after, evolution of certain species into their long-forgotten ancestral forms, as I believe what Mamoswine, Yanmega, and Tangrowth represent as compared to their once-final-but-now-previous evolutions Piloswine, Yanma, and Tangela, respectively, thanks to a fitting move required for evolution, AncientPower. Thank you very much for the comment, I feel humbled and flattered at the same time.

While I am very thankful of you and your explanation, I would just like to point out a few things. Felinheist is a Liepard evolution, not a Purrloin branch evolution, as I believe a mere Purrloin would have difficulties surviving in their exodus through a presumed Ice Age. On the other hand, Ekanses and even Arboks are soft-bodied snakes without any protection other than intimidation, so I thought they needed the rock armor that Snepres has (Seviper, which for me is a seemingly ancient species that underwent very little change over time, has a sharp tail for protection).

And I pretty much know that you know this already, but Mega Evolutions are temporary (and very Digimon-esque, if you ask me), while Bedrock Evolutions are permanent.

Still, many thanks to your wonderful comment! I really appreciate all the effort you put in this one! Thank you very, very much!

Glad to hear you liked my explanation. Whenever I get into thinking about something like this, I always do it in depth.

The point with Felinheist and Snepres was that in the past Purrloin and Ekans served a role much more akin to baby Pokemon than unevolved ones (they were sheltered by their parents until they evolved and could live on their own). Being the replacement forms, Liepard and Arbok take precedence when evolving, but because they are still so similar to the old forms they nevertheless have the potential to become them. Still, that's just how I initially envisioned it; it could very well be that they had been triple-lines to begin with and simply abandoned the last forms when they became unnecessary, like what (supposedly) happened Carnitrex and Quetzparce.

And yes, I was aware of Mega Evolution being temporary. The point I was trying to make is that both methods require the special items to unlock the potential evolutions in some way.

In terms of concept, my Bedrock Gem evolution is the itemized version akin to Ancient Power evolution, bringing out and about the prehistoric ancestor of that Pokémon. Shedding some light into the matter, these Bedrock Gem evolutions, as you said, were abandoned, as with the Ancient Power ones, and because in my opinion, they no longer needed the extra coat of fur (Felinheist), the extra rocky exterior (Snepres), the extra heads (Carnitrex), and the wings for a cave-dweller (Quetzparce).

Indeed, Mega Evolutions and Bedrock Gem Evolutions do require special items to unlock potential evolutions, but so does other method of evolution (held item evolutions, stone evolutions, etc.). I don't really see the point of singling out Mega Evolutions and Bedrock Gem Evolutions.

Well, whatever floats your boat. Thank you for your interest in my Bedrock Gem evos!

Umm, it could be a fossil, but it's just basically a gemstone, no ancient DNA there.

A nice idea you got thar. Making items might seem easy but you seem to add your own personal touch there somehow. But that's just me

Wow, thanks. Yes, I try my best to make my items distinct, with some research to back my claims up. But I'm glad you recognize my 'personal touch' somewhere in there. Thanks a lot!
