Eh its a lil easier with water colors .. you just have to lay down the layers first..i cant shade very well with out breaking my wrist with them.
Oh and I noticed that persons EXTREAMLY long critque in the othe rone.. the tickle war..
If i may, you can find pecnils if you like that wont break the bank like prisma colors.
IF you have a hobby lobby near you.. go there and look for the crayola twist ups. Thats what i use on the occasions for mine.. they turned out well and they wont make your wallet scream in agony the way prisma colors tend too.. and ..NO shaprening.. just twist and color.

most of us cant afford 200.00 sets of colored pencils .. thees only go for about 20.00 good luck finding them.. i think they have them at micheals too if no HL's in your area

So, I looked through your gallery and I'm seeing a lot of mistakes happening repeatedly.
I hope you don't mind if I criticize you.
The major thing that bugged me about your art was the coloring. As a first glance, it really seemed as if you aren't taking your time with it. Alot of the places such as the tree, grass and sky look super scrible. Now I'm too sure if it's the lack of time you are putting into your art or the brand of your coloured pencils. If it is the pencils, I recommend Prisma Colors or Faber Castell.
Another pointer with coloring is try going one direction. It makes it look so much cleaner, if you want things to pop up, do some shading.
Lighting wise, try adding proper lighting to indicate where the shading goes. From this picture the shading of the characters are all located at random places.
You should really consider looking up tutorials on anatomy. The same mistakes I've been seeing are;
Hands: Too small. try drawing them bigger. Hand's should be roughly the size of the face of the character.
Feet: Too small. Should be roughly the size from wrist to elbow crease of the character
Neck: sometimes you draw them nicely, in this current peice you drew them too long. Try watching out for that next time
All together all I can really say is, please try taking your time when you draw and try not to rush. Time really helps making art look better.
Some positive things about your art are;
The scenery is fantastic, it looks very calm and simple.
Your poses are good attempts, which is excellent because its boring seeing the same pose done over and over.
Your style is quite adorable, but things can be improved as I suggested.
