The Elves have a strong connection with stars, we do know Varda created the stars in two phases: first, at the time to the creation of Arda, and second to the awakening of the Elves. The stars were created long before the Sun and the Moon.The Elves first awoke under the stars before the Sun and Moon existed, and the stars were the first thing they saw and they really loves the stars. The Elves also called "Eldar" the People of the Stars.
