Part 2 of my final project in illustration. This is a picture of Lirael casting a master charter mark. I took a LOT of creative license with this one. I know that when this scene took place, Lirael was like 14 and in the yellow waist-coat of the 3rd Assistant Librarian, but I wanted to put her in the red waistcoat of the 2nd Assistant Librarian because that's what she's wearing for most of her book. I know she was more beaten up and shit, but I wanted to draw her being a badass and looking older... but I still set it in that scene in the field of poppies with the oak tree.If you've read the books, you know what I'm talking about XD
Yet again, I know there are all sorts of problems going on in this piece, but I couldn't be bothered to care, because I still had one more to do and very little time! I love how the charter spell came out, though. I'm very proud of it. I made the waistcoat be a sort of fusion between a waistcoat and a tunic, because... I wanted to.
Yet again, I have cropping issues going on, but I'll fix them when I get this thing in photoshop.

One of my favorite scenes. Your creative license does not take away from the image at all. In fact, I love how the red pops with the poppies. Also love how you did Kibeth - so alert and attentive. Really cool depiction of charter magic as well.
