Whip Spiders
Just beneath Bloodwood Forest, the tunnels of the whip spiders lay, twisting and spiraling back to each other. Like giant trapdoor spiders, they were accustomed to snagging the leftover feast from the bloodwood trees. But since the miners were forced to work at the roots of the bloodwood, the spiders have since been kept away, starving and dying off, growing ever more feisty versa the slave miners.
Frequency: Secluded
Location: Bloodwood Mines
Size: Largest seen came up to a Tekran's chest.
Diet: Insects, small mammals, large mammals, reptiles, humanoids.
Temperment: Aggressive and hungry.
Behavior: Whip spiders are accustomed to the dark, therefore their sight is primarily good in dim lighting. They avoid the (only slightly brighter) forest above them, despite the miners' occupancy of their tunnels. Whip spiders are extremely hostile and will attack recklessly if they must.
Gender Dimorphism: Females are slightly larger.
Special Abilities: The two tendrils at the front of the whip-spider are sensors. They extend them to feel vibrations, and are sensitive to even heartbeats. The tendrils aren't used as whips, contrary to the name. Their venom is paralytic, and may last up to several hours.
While their web isnt strong, strand by strand, when bundled, their web is tougher than bloodsteel.
Weaknesses: Obviously, light. They don't fare well to heat and water will bloat them up easily.
