Captain's Log: Jason Shepard - NATO Space Force

Date: October 21st, 2060 AD

This is it. Our final stand against EATA. In approximately 24 hours, NATO Spacecom has ordered us to intercept the ESF fleet orbiting Luna. The ESF fleet consists of two drone carriers, one battlecruiser, six gunships, three solar lances, two support ships (tankers), and ten gunboats. Since our victory on Mars, EATA's Roscosmos and CNSA have sent two new gunships to make up for the ones taken out in orbit around Ganymede and Venus. We have them barely outgunned, but they knew this was coming for a while and have likely developed tricks up their sleeve using their Red Right Fist AGI tactician. I highly doubt they would leave a battle this significant to chance. Still, the USNSC informed our battlegroup general that they also have a trick up their sleeve that is on standby depending on how the battle goes.

The worst part about this battle is that my crew could die tomorrow. After all the personal sacrifices I've seen them make, I don't want it to be all for nothing. I want them to be able to finally go home after this battle and see their families and hopefully help build a better future for space exploration that doesn't involve endless conquest and war. This log could be my last and the last thing I want to say is for my family.

Donna Shepard, I love you. I'm sorry I've been away from you and the kids for so long. I'm sorry it had to be this way. When NATO gives you this last log, tell the kids I love them too.

Regardless of the outcome of this battle, regardless of what happens to my ship and her crew...

I'm coming home.
