Well it was like 5:00 in the morning and i was tired and lazy and knew i wouldn't finish it ever if i didn't do it right then, so the hair is junk. Actually, this whole picture kind of is as well. Not one of my faves.Related content

hey i have a question, how do u do like the highlights and stuff in the hair

so far i've found this to be the best way of doing hair, which is my least favorite thing in all of my drawings, i might add, haha;
1. block in basic shades without any texture at all first.
2. add in pencil strokes in the direction of the hair pressing hard near areas like the scalp or where ever you see shadows, then in the same stroke lightening the pressure (like making the long end of a checkmark sort of, if that makes sense).
3. take the sharp parts of an eraser and do similar strokes for hightlights, just opposite direction, start at the lightest part by pressing harder, then fade the hightlight into the darker parts of hair by pressing lighter.
4. add in fly-away hairs last with either pencil or eraser depending on what shade of hair you're drawing.
