Here's some more progress on this spiky guy. I'm enjoying the deep blues and sharp violets, and we'll see more of them as I tackle the top half of the image. For now, I decided to finish up on the bony body bits. I may darken things up in there, depending on how the top half of the image looks when it's finished. Right now, it draws the eye very sharply, but that's because I haven't balanced things out in the upper background. This is one of those times I'll have to say, "Trust me; it'll work."

I am also liking the deep blues and sharp violets. I have learned to trust artists in the middle of the process as they know what they have planned, the observer doesn't.

I put the "trust me" disclaimer on there because right now, it *does* look out of balance. That's one of the trade-offs of sharing the process - you get to see several unbalanced versions of the project before I add a touch more blue-violet and magically make it all come together.
