Description Here's the next phase of the project - a very quick watercolor wash.  I used table salt for some fun textures.  The color scheme I laid out here is what will tie the whole project together - mostly ultramarine and turquoise.  You can also see why I went ahead and inked the drawing - a watercolor wash this dark would have obscured quite a bit of the detail if I'd left it just in a penciled state.

i'm guessing your inks were waterproof.
i once used inks that claimed to be waterproof & they ran when i brushed a water-based matte varnish over the art.
anyway, this looks fantastic! i love those salt textures.

Thank you!

I am pretty sure they're waterproof.  I usually wait at least 24 hours before using watercolor over them.  I do find that if I do a lot of brushwork - any kind of scrubbing - the ink will run a bit.  I used Micron pens in this case.  I've had good luck with the Zig Millenium pens as well, though I do not know if Zigs're still around.

Ahhh maybe that's what I did wrong. I can't remember how long I waited but I don't think it was 24 hours... good to know for next time! Thanks! ^^
