As wide as this animal's wingspan is I would suspect that it would live in mountainous terrain and feed on anything that it can see on the ground beneath it. This is in comparison to the Andean Condor, which inhabits South American mountains and will glide for more than 100 miles daily in search of carrion. It is one the heaviest land-based flying animals in the world. Take note that when hunting from the skies a bright or reflective underbelly would make the animal very difficult to see.

Thanks. I didn't know that about the underbelly. I'll keep that in mind when I think about my dragons.Â

Man, I gotta say I have always loved how you texture/render the wing membrane. Very 'legit' looking.

As always, your reference sheets just make me drool. The simplicity of the sheet itself, the amazing detail in the character. The way you drew the wings and the way the wing flap covers the elbow really makes the membrane look strong but elastic, it totally makes sense.
Awesome job, Rah-Bop :3.

I think.. the one thing that strikes to be ABSOLUTELY AWESOME is ironically a very small detail: the way the membrane folds over the elbow, gosh why did no one else see this 'til now? Brava! It makes total anatomical sense.
Very beautiful ref as always, love your anatomies. C:

Sorry about the bad word choices. I was meaning if you had used a digital texture to help get the wing membrane to look as it does, or if the small folds and texture in the wing membrane was all hand-drawn.
One thing that I thought while looking at this was the depth of the torso/chest - it seems almost disproportionate to the rest of the body structure. But, now that I think of it, it is reminiscent of a bird's chest cavity and back, made to withstand the stresses placed on it by the muscles attached to the ribcage, keel, and back. Due to the keel, birds' bodies look very deep as well. That may have been what you were thinking of while constructing this, and I also don't know if the original concept/reference depicted the dragon as very deep-chested as well. I can't really say what would make it look better (I'm still having problems with figuring out anatomy and proportion myself), so... this critique was pretty much a bust. XD
As well, you have beautiful rendering abilities and execution of anatomy, though the head in the main image seems a little out of place, almost. I think it's only because it is a more simple design and it looks as though the light is hitting the side of the face facing us, making it lighter than the rest of the overall body.
Apart from that, I can't see anything to comment on constructively. It's interesting how so many people are responding to the wing membrane 'folded' across the elbow when the wing is furled. For one thing, I am assuming that bats have a similar effect when they furl their wings, but I have, for the life of me, have not been able to find references seeing this, or anything that the wing membrane between body and last digit does as the digits are closed in. If you have any photos of this, PLEASE SHOW THEM TO ME!!! I'S DEMANDS EEET!! XD *laughs* But seriously, the way you worked with the membrane has been nothing I've ever thought of, and it seems like it would work - great work on your part.
As well, on the note that you are very experimental with your coloring techniques, I am very much the same way. I have no real pattern myself. So much for tutorials, eh?
Again, I am always happy to see new work from you - brava! ^^ And I love you too, Rah-Bop. We never seem to communicate a lot, or get much of a chance to, but it's always awesome when we do. ^^ Keep up the great work!

Very nice! I love the way you painted the wing membranes on the main dragon image- how it folds over the "elbow".
