Yeah, so backstoryyy timeee! ^v^

As A Child:

-Mer's parents lived in the seas, being water dragons and catching fish to sell. They had a happy family.
Mer's tribe would give any newborns three meaningful tattoos when they were born, made out of squid ink. Mer's three tattoos are are turtle, a wave and a symbol that means "gift of the sea."
These represent strength (the turtle's shell,) and the wave represent being always there <3
They lived in a small cave under the ocean, next to a reef.

One day, Mer and her parents went hunting, when they encountered a shiver (the group name for sharks!) of sharks. Mer's parents attacked the sharks, doing anything to protect their daughter. The sharks still got her, and ripped her left wing off, as well as tearing her right one badly. One of her paws was bitten off, her eye was badly damaged, and her ear has a slight nip in it because of the attack. Mer managed to escape, she swam off to hide. She waited in her hiding spot for three days, until she realized her parent's weren't coming back. When she finally left, Mer survived on her own for a few weeks. Then, she encountered the pirates.

After the Attack:

Mer was found by a group of bloodthirsty, merciless (xD- no pun intendeddd-) pirates. At first, they apeared friendly and harmless. They asked her if she wanted to join them. Mer, wanting nothing more than to have a family again, accepted gratefully. Once on their boat, the pirates tied Mer up, and forced her to clean the decks, and cook for them. Mer was not allowed any free time, and she was never allowed to go outside or swim unless she was clening the decks. The pirates pierced her ears, branding them with their key symbol: an anchor. They hung small anchor charms on her wings and tail, as well as tattooing an anchor on her skin. Mer developed bad trust issues, and became friends with the pirate's parrot, Sail.

Mer was fed up with the pirates, so she sawed at her chain each night with her teeth. After a few weeks, Mer's chain snapped. Mer was over the moon, she jumped into the water, soaking her dry scales. It felt amazing, and when she resurfaced after a few minutes, Mer discovered the water was moving unnaturally around her. Mer danced, and the water followed her movements. Mer daced, and danced, singing a song.

There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy O' Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)

Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go

Before the boat had hit the water
The whale's tail came up and caught her
All hands to the side, harpooned and fought her
When she dived down low (huh)

Soon may the Wellerman come

We'll take our leave and go

As she sang, Mer cascaded the water down to the ship, pulling it under the surface. Mer was angry- furious at the pirates. She sank their ship, so they were never, ever seen again. After that, Mer went to a small town by the seaside, and bought herself a big ship with all the treasure she had taken from the pirates.
Mer decorated her frill with golden and blue music notes, which symbolize her love for singing and music. She got heself a golden hook to replace her bitten-off paw, and she made herself small bags out of seaweed, using them to store food, knives, and a harmonica.
She did not remove her anchor charms, as a sign of her past, and that she will fight no matter what.

Mer lives on her ship, along with her friend, Sail (who she made sure was with her before she sank the ship.)

This brave, resiliant dragon sails the seas, fighting anything that dares to attack her. Mer is feared by all pirates, and has become known as the "Singing Terror." Deep down, Mer is always a kind, loving dragon, and her one wish is to one day find a family who she loves and trusts.
