Description
This is the last of the commissions on the list - it's watercolour, 5" by 7". It's kind of a strange feeling not having any commissions to do, but it gives me time to catch up on new work for the fall show season and maybe I can finish that pencil drawing of DaBull I've been working on.

Thank you very much! ^^ Ah, they've gotten a kind of a bad name for themselves in the UK, but in my experience, it's usually the owner rather than the dog that's bad. Bad owners make for bad dogs, and unfortunately for Pits, they are often owned by lowlifes.

I also believe it is the owners who make the dogs who they are. I mean if pit bulls hadn't been trained to fight then it wouldn't be in their blood nowdays.

Very true. I don't even think it's necessarily in their blood - one of the sweetest and kindest dogs I know is a Pit, and she has to have a special licence and stuff.

This dog's expression is priceless! I have a boxer and that's the look she gets on her face when begging for food. :rotfl: It's a great pose for painting, and I snapped a couple of pictures of her with that cute puppy face for later painting.

I just love boxers - I've painted three or four, but never got shots of the paintings before they left me. I really ought to do another. You realise that you must share these cute puppy faces - I'd love to give it a go!

It's sad that some people think that all pit bulls are vicious. They're not...it just depends on how they are raised. I know a couple pit bulls and they are the sweetest dogs I've ever met.

That's exactly right - people train them inappropriately or don't bother to train them at all, and the poor dogs get blamed for it.

I'm about to draw/paint an elderly Staffordshire Bull Terrier (I'd call it a Pit Bull) sometimes soon for a request, but I couldn't make myself start yet..

In some countries the breeding of Pit Bulls is illegal, so they're called Staffordshire Bull terriers.. this happens in Hungary anyway..

The same thing has happened in places here - the smart owners refer to their Pits as "Amstaffs" - American Staffordshire Bull Terriers. We have a friend who has one, and they refer to her as a "boxer mix". They figure that pretty much solves the problem.

Thank you! I had heard that there are a few countries who have banned them. I've seen on the news about how a pit bull has attacked a child or another dog, and that's really very sad. It's usually because the owner has raised them to be a fighting dog or has trained it improperly or just let it run loose. It's so sad because they're really nice dogs if they''re trained properly. ):

If a pitbull is discovered on the streets, the police can take that dog with them. And most of the times they are put to sleep. Other kinds of breed which are strong in the mouth have to wear 'een muilkorf'. Don't know the right word in English. A kind of leather band which shuts the jaws together. It is said that this breed of dog never can be fully trusted.
I don't know. We only had spaniels.

That's sad; here they are starting to have people register breeds like that to make sure that they give them professional training and don't let them roam loose. Our Rottweiler, Carl, is one of those "dangerous" breeds, but we've trained him very carefully just in case. He's really a sweetheart.
