Y'know, it's funny... I bought this exact same set (it's the one that comes in the box, with 3 trays stacked on top of each other, right? Yeah, I have the exact same set ), fully intending to enter the world of color with these. The kicker is, my girlfriend bought the 9 piece Copic Ciao Primary, Skin Tone and Muted manga sets (as well as a set of the 6 neutral grays) for herself around the same time, since she's always preferred markers to colored pencils... and so of course I proceeded to immediately fall in love with the Copics at first use (well, the grays, anyway), and she's been the only one to really use the colored pencils at all ^^'
Curious what you think of the Prismas at this point? From my limited experimentation, I've noticed that, while they produce decent tones, the lead is super-soft, and I have to be ultra-careful when sharpening them or the point breaks if I look at it the wrong way ^^ I've also heard that you could potentially combine colored pencil shading with Copic shading, particularly the former over top of the latter. Ever tried it? I'm half-thinking I could use some strategic colored pencil over top of the Copics just to get some extra shadow and depth that I otherwise couldn't....

Actually i only bought the 48 (2 trays) but i probably have around 70 now. I have barely used them but i love them and i really want to use them soon. They really are some of the best colored pencils out there. You are correct they can break easily. I haven't yet thank god. But its a good tradeoff for how soft and smooth they are. They blend so well too. I really really like them. Faber Castell Polychromos would probably be my first choice but with how much i spend on copics i just cant justify spending that much on colored pencils, especially with how little i use them.
Yeah they go well over copics. I've used them a few times. Great for small details.

Interesting ^^ I might use them for small shadow details over top of copics in the future. I have a lot of experimenting to do... sigh ^^"

Yeah i did it a tiny bit on my Senji drawing. It seemed to work really good. But i see people all the time say "done with copics and prismas" and i can't even tell where they used Prismas so they must blend really well

Hmm... yeah now that you mention it I've seen similar comments. Sometimes I feel like I need at least 2 extra lifetimes to figure all of this out though ^^'

Yeah I first picked up a pen in March '14, and I didn't do my first piece of fanart until July. So yeah, playing catchup over here too, although I lack your raw talent ^^
I also echo that wish. My girlfriend took a lot of art in high school and college, and it definitely shows in her work, and her technical abilities. If I could go back and take classes, I absolutely would've, but I suppose it's spilled milk at this point.

I dont think thats true. It looks like you know what your doing. Just keep at it and you'll improve. Thats all im trying to do.
Yeah idk why i didnt. The only class i took in high school was airbrush. But i dont remember anything from it

what did you get Maria-chan?? I think coloring is all i can do. I can't draw crap right now. Yeah my graphites died too. They were prismas and they sucked. These Staedtlers are really nice though. But what are you coloring with????

regular crayola colored pencils, they're actually quite nice and for the graphite pencils I use Ticonderoga (THEY ARE SO GOOOD. Β Β ) when I finished a drawing with color it looked really good.{ I can't post it up my usb is broken and it won't send any new pictures to my laptop. TTvTT}
Ikr, I couldn't draw anything for a couple days until I was watching some cartoons. I guess we artists can 'loose our groove' sometimes. Β I was wasting so much paper.

I use a samsung phone. it's just the cords that aren't working with the computer. data sent from the phone isn't traveling through correctly. it sucks. I'm low tech until my parents get more money.

I just saw they were way more expensive on copics than hobby lobby. And they try to trick you, get this... Okay one marker at michaels is $8, then they charge $54 for a six pack, $9 a marker!!! Β What a bunch of dicks! At hobby lobby the six packs are $40
