Description Description:
I've been working on this way too long. "Tempus Fugit" (time is running out in Latin, in case you don't know) is a desktop application built with Macromedia Flash (hence deviation's category) and mProjector 2 with which the actual stand-alone projector was made. All artwork created from scratch in Photoshop .

On the screenshot you see all three states of the application - main window (the clock), settings, and program information. Full view to see it in action. Since its settings are stored in the registry, most of the application's functionality is disabled for online preview. Also check my latest desktop to see it on the screen.

Features:
- draggable window for convinient usage
- docking to desktop borders (and there is no way you can drag "Tempus Fugit" outside the screen)
- ability to autostart with Windows, in visible or hidden mode
- two language versions (separate executables) - Polish and English

To do:
- a version for older platforms, this one uses alpha-blending and works only on Windows XP.
- a website so I can distribute it
- built-in callendar and/or alarm clock

No, I mean, the only way I know how to set it as your active desktop is to embed the .swf into a .html file then set that XD Don't worry, I won't steal.

Very nice work. I like the simple yet detailed outlook. Those machineparts rolling inside fascinate me! Somehow the background yellowish piece reminds me of an old map done on some very old papyrus/paper that has worn out as time has gone by. Plus the insides of the clock remind me of Thief 2's steampunk world and the menu interface in the game.

rawart In reply to frostdemn [2004-12-25 16:44:05 +0000 UTC]

Tempus fugit is a stand-alone, installable application. I will not post it to DA since they don't support software to be posted as a deviation.

Very cool. I want to make something like this myself one day. I'm using Flash Wallpaper and am a beginner in flash... Currently looking for a decent analog clock I can take apart and study.

rawart In reply to bytedreams [2004-11-13 18:27:26 +0000 UTC]

Look in here . You'll find plenty of flash source files on this site, including both, digital and analog clocks. One of the best training grounds you'll find on the web.

I tried the the tut on Lionbich site just now on their analog clock. Same thing happened that happened to me when I did the one on Flashkit. I set the registration points at the bottom of the three hands like the tut said, but a) the minute hand seemed like it was backwards and b) I kept getting an error that the onClipEvent (enterframe) has to be on a movie clip, which I had created the clock by nesting the hands inside a main movie clip, selected the clip on the maintimeline and hit f9...

I tried this tut before, and can't figure out what's going on with the registration point.. Whaaaaahhh!!

OK, this has got to be the coolest flash thing ive seen submitted. Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful artwork and sounds as well. Sounds have a gritty, real quality to them. Chimes would be nice, some sort of alarm would be cool, but then again if you kept adding the "oh, this would be cool" it would soon turn into a huge do-everything application. Anyway, very interested in an installable release, id love to have this on my system. Curious, im a pretty fluent flash programmer, but never used mprojecter 2. how rough is it to learn and would I need to know how to pull apart and mess with registries and such in order to do something like this? very proficient in flash and php, but thats is as far as programming goes.

rawart In reply to gokuyert [2004-11-04 20:18:33 +0000 UTC]

There is a way - I can send you an application when I'll write an installer. But if you don't care about obsolete registry keys after deleting the program, you can have it sooner. Let me know. "Tempus Fugit" works best on Windows XP.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gokuyert In reply to rawart [2004-11-04 21:05:37 +0000 UTC]

well ive got XP
and ive got a registry cleaner as well so i dont care at all about them
though i also have registry blocker as well

so yes, i would very much like this, it would be fun to have up on my desktop
does it chime on the hour or anything?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rawart In reply to gokuyert [2004-11-04 21:15:01 +0000 UTC]

No it doesn't chime. The only difference between the actual application and this deviation is that the second one has writing to registry and draggin disabled. I'll send it to you as soon as I can.
