I've actually seen this from the RRDB. I've always thought it was a marvelously original idea. The whole 'don't judge a book by its cover' with a healthy dose of Christmas giving spirit mixed in.
There was always one thing that I was curious about though. If these parents are gothics, why would they dress their daughter in frilly cuteness instead of something like a demonically hot pink nightie with a pic of an adorably evil looking bat upon it?

I gave some thought to that, but finally decided that her parents would not try to put her in a vulnerable position by advertising their "differentness" through their child. It is very easy for a child to be a target, unfortunately, in school and elsewhere. Her parents have decided not to take any more risks with her welfare than necessary.
You may have read some articles just a few days ago about some skinhead parents who named one of their children "Hitler" and were suing a local store for refusing to make a birthday cake for the child with a swastika on it. Those parents are heartlessly going to put their kid through hell over their affiliations. Our parents are much more thoughtful and loving than that. The little girl is being given the freedom to make her own choices when she gets older.

Ahh, very good thought process. I see your point and can agree totally.
Choosing to express yourself in an non-maintstream manor is your choice. But, when you bring a life into this world, you owe it to them to give them the best chance possible which means allowing them to be mainstream until they're old enough to make the choice themselves and try and deal with the consequences or benefits.
