I've seen plenty of cool water drop macros on dA, and while I was playing with CDs and other junk for my still life photography project (which has dragged on for far too long) I thought I'd give it a go. CDs have an infamous prism effect on light that strikes them, while water drops refract light that passes through them - combined, the effect is quite spectacular.Canon Powershot A640 & Gimp 2.4

if you could get the waterdrop with the reflections and not being on the cd would look nice!

That's a pretty neat idea, but I don't have the equipment needed for a shot like that.

well i thinks is more imagination than equipment, i'm not photographer but i'd place cd's on top of the sphere and the sphere in a piece of black paper i guess with some simple lights you could get that ^^

Great Idea!!! Nice shot!! You're really getting better at photography... You just need a better camera man. RAW can really make the image sharp and clear. I'd also just spot out those little smudges/marks/dust. On a good high-res camera you could actually make money on stock sites with something like this.

Thanks for the tips. RAW isn't an option on the camera I use, and I don't have the funds to get one that is capable of that. Other than that, I'll remember to use a clean CD next time
Stock photography isn't something I've seriously considered, but I might look into it
