Description So last week I have been trying to practice on watercolor again. I have been feeling a bit burnt out with art lately and working on traditional art certainly is refreshing.Β

Watercolor and ballpoint
Ref used.

I like this one the most! The pose and the reflection are very well done, and I like the expression of the lion.

You mean watercolor commissions or the paintings themselves? Β

I can offer them for sale. I'm only really clingy with the cougar watercolor piece, I don't wanna let go of that ;w;Β

I understand. The cougar one is fantastic! I'd cling too
Luckily for you, I'm interested in this one. How much would you want for it?

The coloring is really soft and simple and looks good, but I think the anatomy in the lion could be better. Honestly, I couldn't do better so I'm not sure how to help, but I thought i'd provide some constructive criticism lol

can you point out exactly what could have been done better with the anatomy? this isn't really helpful criticism.Β

Crap, sorry, I'm tired and I thought I did ^^"
To me it looks like the back leg is really awkward and almost misshapen? Kind of like the thigh is, to put it bluntly, a little too fat? I don't really know how to explain it, sorry, but I looked up a picture of a lion and it just looked kind of off to me.
Also with the proportions, I feel like the belly is a bit too big to go with how the spine bending, unless you've made it like that for a reason.
I don't know if this helps at all as I was sort of struggling to explain it, but I tried my best and hopefully you find it helpful

thank you ^^ I agree the back leg could have been done better. I think the perspective is off. Β About the belly, I think the belly is ok, but the perspective is off as well, if you compare it with this photo ref I have used:Β 500px.com/photo/101305827/join… Β

But it was my first drawing of the four watercolor series, and it is not my best because i used to learn to work with the medium. It already got a bit ruined by my sloppy white acryclic highlightsΒ (switched over to white gel pen in the other paintings)Β >_> Β Sadly there is no undo button with watercolor painting, so not much can be edited.Β

However, thank you for the feedback ^^Β

Going by that picture, the belly is fine haha, it really just depends on what you're using as a reference and what kind of style you have
Yeah, I think the perspective is a bit off, though it's pretty good for the first of the 4.

I actually prefer the white acrylic highlights compared to the gel pen highlights. I think it works better with how watercolors come out as they're always kind of blotchy, and the acrylic's kind of similar appearance on it blends better.

Sadly my acrylics are no good they are very blotchy and just hard to work with. Β maybe ima buy new ones in the future. The gel pens work a little better but I notice its blending with the color of the paint >_< Β Β

Ah, that sucks. I recently got some very good acrylics and paintbrushes, very easy to work with. I wish I could share them with you haha
