FINAL EDIT:This is the final approved Rand. Did so much to change him that I really don't even feel like listing it all.
EDIT: Pulled up his sleeve, bent his arm back, changed the face, blended and added dragon
Rand al'Thor is the Dragon Reborn,
savior of the world, who will save it from the Dark One, and break it in the process. Car'a'carn, or He Who Comes with the Dawn, Coramoor, Shadowkiller, Lord of the Morning, Prince of the Dawn, and True Defender of the Light.

I feel this image works better for book 12-13ish and on, where the other Rand you drew is better for beforehand. The final book(s) describe him as looking old and young at the same time, and i think this picture works quite well, there is a maturity to this Rand that he may not have had in prior books. Well done!

Yes, I was aiming for after he came down from Dragonmount in book 13.
The other Rand was modeled after the end of book 11.
I am really glad that you see that and are happy with it. I don't know why so many were upset. Rand is very difficult to capture so he needs many portraits because he is almost more than one person.

Perhaps they havent read that far? I don't know, but I revisited this picture as i was on the final books (or perhaps just finished with them), so your art made much more sense to me. Thats why i had to comment again!

I dont know which one i like better. I almost feel he looks a bit too old here, wherein the other he seemed just as he is: a young man forced into a destiny that any would run from.

Thank you! I think so too but people keep on loving the other one more. You're one of the few to like this one more. To me, artistically it is way better and more accurate to book 13. lol but I'm really just happy people like either one.

A little too much of the "beautiful Rand" in that one, not enough "He that will save the world" in the other. He definitely looks more like he can dominate a room with his presence.

Thanks. Rand is always a work in progress. The main character is most often the toughest to get down. Most of all Rand because he evolves so much.

I love the whole treatment in this, the work is awesome as in all you card drawings, but I think that his features are a bit too round, too "beautiful", lips too full, round lips and eyes... More like a Rand I'd imagine in the Eye of the World than at the end of book 13...
But it's just a fan's opinion, and everything looks great in general, I really admire all the work you've done in you WoT pics!!

I'm currently reading The Eye of the World for the first time (presently in Chapter 19), but I had seen some spoilers for the REALLY MAJOR events before reading like the what happens in The Dragon Reborn. I've sorta been using your character card gallery to help me envision the characters as I read and I wanted to say thanks as well as congratulations for getting OFFICIAL thumbs-up for your work.
And if I can get your quick opinion, when would you recommend reading New Spring? After Book 4? After Book 5? Or in publication order?
