Description
The Crow king called all his ministers to a great meeting and said to them:
- We are in trouble with those owls! They attack us at night when we are sleeping and unable to fight. Going to sleep, neither of us is sure if they will be alive tomorrow. We can't live like that anymore! We are getting less and they multiply! If it goes any further, we will disappear!
The king had five ministers and the first one said:
- Your Majesty, thank you for calling this meeting! You can see that you really care about your people! My advice is the following: owls are strong, we are weaker; owls fight at night, we sleep at night and see nothing. What can we do to them? Better to send our messenger to them and ask them to make peace with us, even if we have to give them a big payment...
Then the second minister said:
- The greatest sir, I do not like at all that my predecessor advised. Begging for the mercy of an enemy? Isn't it enough that they killed so many of us, do we still have to bow to him, give him a payback? I would prefer to fight with them till the last feather!!
- Hmmm, - said the king, - I see. What other ministers would say?
- We will not survive the war! The very first night they would kill all of us!! Listen to my advice: let's leave this unfortunate forest and that bad neighborhood, fly away from here while you're alive, looking for another, safer place, - said the third minister, old and weak crow.
- I would advise, our greatest king, not to rush to war or to escape, but to wait for what comes next. Maybe owls will get tired and fly away, who knows? Then let's just wait and see.... - said the fourth minister.
Then the fifth, the oldest minister, who's name was Carkailo, came close to the king, bow down and said, - Your Majesty, you know me very well. I am old, I was serving your father. My predecessors' advices were very good, but yet have flaws...Do you know why owls hating us do much? Listen, I will tell you a story...
to be continued...
