Description
This piece was inspired by The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild Demo in E3, when Link is waking up from his slumber at the resurrection shrine. I didn't have much time to do the waist up or full body, so, just the head this time. ;_;
Well, I have been a huge fan of Zelda since The wind waker came out. It's been more than 10 years I guess but this is my first take on Zelda fan art. Better late than never anyway. LOL
The breath of the wild demo is very amazed me. It's something brand new for the Zelda series. The technology, the open world, craft and cooking... etc. I didn't have a Wii U but I think it's time to get it. XP
By the way, I miss his green tunic.... I haven't seen it once during the Demo, even on an official box art. T_T

This is simply magnificent! I love it.
The facial expression is powerful and the background emphasizes Link. I think the shadows and the glowing from the light is done very well.
The only way I can see this be better is perhaps include his whole head although I think like this it looks more artsy. And of course, make it a bigger resolution painting - would make some of the particles on the right really stand out.
I don't know much about technique as I don't do art anywhere close this level however I think the brush strokes captured the hair perfectly. Perhaps the neck could have been made to look as real as the face.

Actually, BoTW was a return of the origins of the Zelda series: the very first Zelda for NES/Famicom was an open world (for the most part), sandbox action-adventure game too. ^^

This is just magnificent! More people deserve to see this work.
By the way, the green tunic is likely to be there. The developers hinted at that heavily during a interview. You can have many different clothes and the demo (or treehouse live) had a greenish/creamy one, probably from early on in the game.

I still haven't have a chance to do a tutorial but a t least I can guide you how.
For BG, I used a color dodge mode on brush with a soft round brush to paint.
and for hair, I started with a darkest color base and then use a lighter color to paint. highlight and small strands are the last. I also used color dodge brush to add a highlight.

I know, but a 3D Zelda game where you can jump! I saw a video about what Nintendo could include in the next Zelda game before E3 and the guy mentioned about double jumping. At least he was accurate on that! XD I think I freaked out about the ability to jump at any time being added to the game more than all of the other stuff in the game during E3!

I seriously cannot wait for it to come out next year. Breath of the Wild is taking a lot of different approaches a traditional Zelda had. The voice-acting, the numerous rpg elements, the lack of the green tunic. I think I would carry a two-handed sword around more often.
