Beautiful use of texture and positive /negative space. The form of a human is always captivating subject matter. The curve pattern of the eye seems to duplicate and expand upwards. It is almost as if the head has a growth that expands up or that it is connecting with the universe. It is set up like a portrait, with a collar and all, similar to a school or work picture. Could be a statement about those type of non-candid photos used in yearbooks and such. There is some mystery to it, and the eyes look sad. It matches with other pieces stylistically in your collection.

This is a very bold drawing, reminiscent of early modern artworks. I cannot remember which artist this reminds me strongly of, but what I do remember was that the artist used print making methods. Print making offered the artist smooth tonal variations to his deformed human shapes.

The original twist here is how the use of subtle linear shading, through the pen, empathizes the dramatic shape. This drawing demonstrates exceptional cross hatching and shading techniques which form the interesting textures and lines from which we infer shapes.

The striking contrast between negative spaces and the figure offer greater impact to the overall drawing.

Another stunning piece - I've become really quite attached to your style! Your shading skills with the pens are incredible, and the lines you use give the image an amazing texture.
I'm impressed with how realistic the eye looks, making it stand out a lot from the rest of the image.
It's rather abstract, which is another love of mine, meaning it gives the audience the ability to perceive it in what ever way they wish.
The contrast between light and dark tones is very bold, making the artwork appear strong and confident.
I don't really have any ideas on how you could improve, since your work never fails to impress me. Maybe some time you could try playing around with adding little bits of colour, just for fun? It's cool to experiment with new styles, and you might find something you really like!
But as always, amazing piece of work; I look forward to seeing lots more e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

I love how dark you get your black areas, and how much texture you art has. This one, although distinctly male looking, makes me think of how pulled and twisted my brain feels trying to balance all my many responsibilities.Β
