haha! the name didn't really ring a bell until I just googled it, and i literally laughed out loud.  I remember when that movie first came out, I was like a in elementary, I remember the happy meals and stuff lol.  I can see what you mean there. Gary's characters design is actually inspired by a combination of many characters...one of em being "Tony Jones" from a game called Magination, a gameboycolor game I ued to play growing up

I never really watched the movie completly, If I should be honest LoL. I just remember the character designs, they were kinda sticking within my head
Damn, Gameboycolor.. that brings some memories back I never had one, though but I had a Game Boy advance
Alright, I just googled Tony Jones, and I can clearly see the inspiration
I really like his character design. Especially his sly, kind of sneaky grin. For me, he looks like he is pretty cunning and now exactly how to get what he wants. His greeen eyes only emphasize that

Shingu is that you? sorry (lol) there's a guy on here who goes by the name ShinguAmito, and he always seems to read my characters perfectly down to a T.. Like he'd guess my characters personality types so accurately only based on their appearances. I have fun reading his comments but at the same time I'm thinking to myself like damn, maybe my characters appearances give too much away? I really would like readers interested to find more about the character through their actions in the comic xD Anyway yea those were good times to be a kid, the gameboy color, gameboy advance days haha. I actually never seen that movie in its entirety myself

Hehe, I know Shingu as well! He is like a philosoph of art The comparison to him flatters me , haha
I don´t zhink they give to much away. I know dozens of characters in fiction who look like your typical hothead/sly guy/ tomboy etc., however the author can still give them their own unique touch in the story itself. I think you will be able to do that as well, so dont worry about this

No Problem! It really shouldn´t be something to worry about. You will always find someone who tells you that your characters are looking totally cliché and are not original. But there will also be some people who know your skills and know, you are goinhg to make them diverse :
