Description

This is the briefing room of the USS Appalachia NCC-52136, a Steamrunner-Class starship we saw in the feature film 'Star Trek: First Contact' as a background ship.

Located on the aft section of deck 1, the Appalachia briefing room is far smaller than similar rooms seen in TNG or Voyager, fitting for a ship of its size. The Steamrunner bridge module seems to have two groups of three windows each at the back, so my starting point for this design was that the three windows on the port side are the briefing room, while the three windows on the starboard side are the Captain's ready room. This way both rooms are next to each other and directly connected, while they also connects to the bridge through each side entrance.

Following the pattern I started with the USS Potemkin briefing room, I wanted the table to have a shape which calls back to the starship itself, so in this case it was designed as a very abstract take on the Steamrunner silhouette. As with the bridge, I chose to use the same chair models as on the Enterprise-E, to tie it to its appearance in 'First Contact'.
