Description
So this means nothing to a lot of people but for those that like me started on pokémon Blue or Red it means the world. After the first two pokémon games the menu sprites basically became full 3D renders of each individual pokémon but in the beginning there were about 8 different sprites for all 151 pkmn. It always kinda scared me and weirded me out but I just HAD to draw these guys!It's the REAL true original pokémon team, your average team blue!

Yeah I was like that too, the first time I saw my Bulbizarre ( XD) and he was this flower in the menu it really confused me.

Oh. I just realize.
That the bug was a kind of bee/wasp with mandibles. I always saw it like a huge spider with a mouth on its back. A bit like this.

Thx! I absolutely LOVE working off original sprites and want to do it more often. I've wanted to try my hand at these guys for a while now.
I didn't use the exact same ones as my original team I think. My first team was something like : Sandslash, Hitmonchan, Nidoqueen, Raticate, Vaporeon and Venusaur. But it's been so long ago and I know Zapdos, Mewtwo and Primeape have been part of it too in one of my playthroughs.

Haha, I had forgotten about this until I booted up my original Blue cartridge and was like HOW DO YOU KNOW which pokemon you have?! XD Plus I had "infinite" Rare Candies in my bag.

I know! That's how it went for me too, I decided to start over on my blue again for fun and when I saw the menu sprites again I was like "OOoooooh that's right!" So awesome! XD Just like how some pokémon look from the back! XDD Sometimes I'm still like "What ARE you!?"

I still laugh at my sister's Red cartridge save file. She actually captured Missingno, so now her Hall of Fame is... messed up, is a good word for it. The pokemon displayed don't match the cries they make, and they have glitched-out names and stats. It's amusing to thumb through it every now and again.

I did have a Nidoqueen in my original team but I think they had the dragon icon.

You know what sucks... They remade gold/silver. They are remaking Ruby/saphire.... where is our RGB reboot? I mean, if any game deserves a reboot, its the one that started it all right? It could be something like origin blue/red/green. There is so much they could do!

Thanks dude! Yeah it's been a while, I've been TOTALLY out of it for a few months. Just one of those times where I just can't make myself draw and I have so many WIPs laying around too.
I'm glad I'm slowly getting back into it again.
I always LOVE it when people do pixel interpretations of retro games and I've wanted to start doing those myself for quite some time now and these guys were on the top of my list.
The double mouth thing was random as hell, I wanted to try and makes these guys stand out a bit and figured why not mess with some of these a bit. XD
I just hope I can keep this drawing phase up for a bit because I still owe people stuff from longer ago than I wish to remember. ;A;

Yeah - that's the great thing about basic pixel art. It's so simple and it can be interpreted in so many different ways! Fanart of old video game characters is the best - there's so much room for creativity.
